Ship and Ocean Engineer

About me

I study Ocean Engineering at Texas A&M University. After earning my degree in Shipbuilding and Ocean Engineering at Istanbul Technical University (ITU), I began modeling how waves, currents and wind affect marine vehicles.

I grew up in Afyonkarahisar, Türkiye, and studied Shipbuilding and Ocean Engineering at Istanbul Technical University. My work centers on the design and behavior of unmanned marine vehicles.

At ASFAT, I worked on equipment foundations and installation drawings for naval vessels. At Texas A&M, I now study how ships and underwater vehicles respond to their environment.

During my internship at ASELSAN, I worked on underwater systems. I also led the 25-member ITU ROV team. We placed second in Türkiye in 2019 and first in 2020 and 2021. Internationally, we finished sixth in 2020 and third in the Explorer class in 2021.

Our team placed fifth in the 2020 TEKNOFEST Underwater Systems Competition and first in 2021.

In 2024, I returned to TEKNOFEST as a judge in the unmanned marine vehicle category, reviewing student designs and discussing their engineering decisions with the teams.

As vice president and external relations lead for the Turkish Student Association at Texas A&M, I help organize monthly gatherings and national holiday celebrations. In Türkiye, I organized a Bosphorus outing and meals for children and families through KAÇUV.

I want to take the methods I develop in simulation back to the design and testing of physical marine vehicles.

ITU and Texas A&M

I earned my undergraduate degree in Shipbuilding and Ocean Engineering at ITU. My graduate work at Texas A&M focuses on marine vehicle dynamics and digital twins.

İTÜ ROV

Our ITU ROV team placed second in Türkiye in 2019 and first in 2020 and 2021. At the international competition, we placed sixth in 2020 and third in the Explorer class in 2021.

TeknoFest

Our underwater systems team finished fifth at TEKNOFEST in 2020 and won the competition in 2021.

ASFAT

As an assistant specialist at ASFAT, I worked on equipment foundations and installation drawings for naval vessels.

ASELSAN

During my ASELSAN internship, I worked on underwater system designs and learned how drawings are used in production.

KAÇUV

I volunteered with KAÇUV in Türkiye, organizing a Bosphorus outing and meals for children and their families.

ABS Graduate Scholarship

During my graduate studies at Texas A&M, I received the American Bureau of Shipping Graduate Scholarship.

Ocean vehicle digital twins

At Texas A&M, I model how underwater vehicles respond to currents. I compared three control configurations across 180 simulations using the same disturbance cases. Physical calibration is the next step.

Turkish Student Association at Texas A&M

Turkish Student Association

As vice president and external relations lead, I help bring students together for monthly gatherings and celebrations of Turkish national holidays in College Station.

Marine vehicle design

KIYI-14 is my concept for a robotic mothership that can deploy air, surface and land vehicles. My other CAD studies include an underwater survey carrier and a three-blade ducted thruster.

Hull sections and waterlines in Maxsurf Modeler

Maxsurf MCP

I built a Windows bridge that lets an MCP client inspect an open Maxsurf hull. My first Modeler walkthrough shows how to check the connection and compare the surface list with the model on screen.
